چکیده

A 440MHz wireless and passive Love-wave-based chemical sensor was developed for CO2 detection. The developed device was composed of a reflective delay line patterned on 41 YX LiNbO3 piezoelectric substrate, a poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) waveguide layer, and Teflon AF 2400 sensitive film. A theoretical model is presented to describe wave propagation in Love wave devices with large piezoelectricity and to allow the design of an optimized structure. In wireless device testing using a network analyzer, infusion of CO2 into the testing chamber induced large phase shifts of the reflection peaks owing to the interaction between the sensing film and the test gas (CO2). Good linearity and repeatability were observed at CO2 concentrations of 0–350 ppm. The obtained sensitivity from the Love wave device was approximately 7.07 ppm . The gas response properties of the fabricated Love-wave sensor in terms of linearity and sensitivity were provided, and a comparison to surface acoustic wave devices was also discussed. TiO2 based surface acoustic wave gas sensor with modified electrode dimensions for enhanced H2 sensing application

The design and optimization of nanostructure-based surface acoustic wave (SAW) gas sensor is analyzed based on TiO2 sensing layer and modified electrode dimensions. The sensitivity of the gas sensor depends upon the type of sensing layer used and active surface area obtained by varying the aspect ratio. The performance of the sensor is observed from 0.1ppm to 100ppm concentration of ...

Influence of electromagnetic interferences on the gravimetric sensitivity of surface acoustic waveguides

Influence of electromagnetic interferences on the gravimetric sensitivity of surface acoustic waveguides. Abstract Surface acoustic waveguides are increasing in interest for (bio)chemical detection. The surface mass modification leads to measurable changes in the propagation properties of the waveguide. Among a wide variety of waveguides, Love mode has been investigated because of its high grav...

Theoretical Study of Monolayer and Double-Layer Waveguide Love Wave Sensors for Achieving High Sensitivity

Love wave sensors have been widely used for sensing applications. In this work, we introduce the theoretical analysis of the monolayer and double-layer waveguide Love wave sensors. The velocity, particle displacement and energy distribution of Love waves were analyzed. Using the variations of the energy repartition, the sensitivity coefficients of Love wave sensors were calculated. To achieve a...

Gas Sensor Based on Large Hollow-Core Photonic Bandgap Fiber

One concern in using photonic band-gap fiber (PBGF) as a gas sensor is the response time. In this type of the gas sensors, response time is the time required for gas to diffuse into the hollow-core. So considering a large hollow-core PBGF (HC-PBGF), the response time can be significantly reduced. But in the large HC-PBGF, the fundamental issue is the presence of higher order modes (HOMs). Somet...

A Theoretical Study of Love Wave Sensors Based on ZnO–Glass Layered Structures for Application to Liquid Environments

The propagation of surface acoustic Love modes along ZnO/glass-based structures was modeled and analysed with the goal of designing a sensor able to detect changes in the environmental parameters, such as liquid viscosity changes and minute amounts of mass supported in the viscous liquid medium. Love mode propagation was modeled by numerically solving the system of coupled electro-mechanical fi...
